Calligraphy Compitition

The word Calligraphy comes from the Greek words "Kallos" and "Graphos" which means 'beautiful writing'. Before the invention of printing press some 500 years ago, it was the way books were created. After the advent of printing technology Calligraphy was kept alive as an art form and is described as "the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner". In this age of e-books and 'paperless offices', some people have already started calling Calligraphy a 'dying art form'.
The fans of this art form, however, are trying hard to keep it alive, even flourishing. With this objective in mind the English Literary Society of our college organized a Calligraphy competition in the college on 29th Oct. at 12.30 PM in L. T. 113 in which 52 students participated. Arpit, a student of B. Sc. I, was declared first. In this picture Arpit is seen receiving her prize from Principal of the college Sh. R. S. Sanga.
