Celebration of Teej Festival

22nd being Sunday, Teej was celebrated in the college campus on 20th July. This was also an occasion for welcoming new students to the college, so 'Freshers Party' was also organised on the same day. A report:

LAZEEZ TEEJ
The Teej was at its lazeez best at Govt. College for Girls Sector -14, Panchkula. It inspired everyone who participated in its celebration and fed every soul, mind and heart of the reveler.
Indeed, it was really lazeez and delighting. Everything around was so irresistible. Every girl was seen to be geared up to get in the groove.
The College ambience was reverberating with Teej hubba hubba. Potpourri of stalls, showcasing of teej dance of college girls, eateries, camel ride and jam session augmented the teej fun.
Girls, teachers and everyone seemed to have a time of their life. And what made the day more pulsating was the rolling camel ride.
College belles were seen clicking snaps of each other and every other moment that they were enjoying.
It was really exhilerating for the freshers. It was a kind of event the freshers enjoyed the most in every way. The teej celebration was a part of freshers rendezvous.
The celebration ended well. Everyone around wanted more. Everyday wanted to have this Lazeez Teej celebration more and more.
This Teej brought along with it fresh lease of friendship and joy breeze. Everyone was pleased. So Lazeez was teej !!

Community engagement programme AAKRITI

In order to cultivate sensitivity among students towards education of deprived sections of our society the college started a project for helping young children from a nearby slum, located in sector 12-A, in their studies. Named ‘Aakriti’, this project is a humble effort of the college to assist in giving shape to the dreams of these underprivileged citizens of our country.

Aakriti, one of the several initiatives taken by our Principal Dr. Usha Malik during the short period since she joined this college, has generated considerable interest among our staff members and students, many of whom have volunteered to support these children, mostly girls, from 4th class onwards by giving them free coaching as well as learning material. To encourage adult literacy and empower women living in this locality, a few old women have also been motivated to join these classes. “Initial response of these impoverished children and women has been very encouraging”, observed Mrs. Urmil Sangwan, coordinator of this project, “our students, too, are feeling really excited to be able to contribute their bit for this noble cause.”
